Threading is an ancient method of hair removal practiced in many countries including India, Iran, and China. It is popular in Persian culture where it is called Bande Abru (“Abru” means eyebrow, and “Band” is the thread). Threading the entire face is widely spread amongst Iranians, but it was originally practiced when a woman was getting married or during special occasions. In ancient Persia, threading was a sign that a girl had reached adulthood and become a woman.
Originally Blade was taught to thread by Sohela Sahar Arfazadeh a master threader in 1989 in Yorkville. Blade continues to practise and teach his unique technique of this, the most ancient form of epilation. In 2001 Blade passed on this spealized talent to Ben Tiessen who has been servicing our threading clients since.
A peice of sterile, thin, twisted cotton thread is rolled over unwanted hair (like eyebrows, upper-lip or anywhere you desire epilation) in a twisting motion trapping hair in a mini lasso that lifts hair right out of the follicle.
Unlike tweezing where a single hair is pulled out each time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a much straighter and dramatic line. Unlike waxing there is absolutly no damage or stress to the skin making this the preffered method of epilation for anyone concerned about the aging process or those who suffer from sensitive, acne, rosacea or other irritation related skin conditions exists.
