Skin Exfoliation & Resurfacing
Skin exfoliation and or resurfacing involves the removal of skin cells of the skin’s surface, and has been used and evolved for many years to help maintain skin tone, texture and general functioning. Exfoliation can be achieved through mechanical or chemical means. Not all skin types are suitable for all forms of exfoliation.
This process involves physically scraping, sandblasting or scrubbing the skin to loosen and remove dead cells.. Mechanical exfoliation procedures available at the clinic include Microdermabrasion, Diamond-abrasion and Ultrasound peeling and scrubbing.
Chemical exfoliation may involve the use of products that contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or enzymes that act to loosen the glue-like substance that holds the cells together, allowing them to ease away.
